ABC i-Blocks is the prototype for an educational application on tablet PC for pre-school children. Currently there exist large amount of educational material for preschoolers such as books, flash cards, alphabet blocks, puzzles and so on. As a result of the emergence of tablet PC, a great number of applications for children have been released. Tablet PC have many benefits such as the ability to integrate moving image, sound and levels of interactive and virtual experience that traditional education materials do not have. Of course, traditional materials have many benefits such as physical activities and experiences that digital devices do not have. I believe that children learn by playing and experiencing rather than just doing on screen. Thus I intended to produce an application that can provide both physical activities and virtual experience together. The concept of this project is to connect physical materials to the digital devices: learning the name, sound and shape of letters, and simple words as efficiently as possible.
